What is IPL?
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket competition in India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) launched it in 2007. The IPL is noted for its high-intensity matches, celebrity team owners, and ability to draw some of the finest cricketers from across the world.
The first edition of the Indian Premier League was launched in 2008 and the upcoming edition is 2023. Its headquarter is in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Every year, between March and May, ten teams from various locations in India compete in the IPL. Each team plays 14 matches in a round-robin style, with the top four teams progressing to the playoffs. The playoffs consist of two qualifiers, an elimination round, and a final to decide the league champion.
The IPL is the world’s most popular cricket league. In 2014, it was rated sixth among all the sports leagues in terms of average attendance. And in 2010, the IPL became the first sporting event in the world to be broadcast live on YouTube.
What is so special in IPL?
One of the IPL’s distinguishing elements is its player auction, in which clubs compete for the greatest cricketers from across the world. The auction is usually held a few months before the tournament begins, and teams have a given budget for purchasing players.
Apart from the high-quality cricket, the IPL is also known for its glitz and glamour.
Bollywood stars, business tycoons, and even worldwide sports figures own teams in the league, which adds to the excitement and buzz surrounding the competition. The IPL has also provided a platform for new and future Indian players to display their talent and establish a name for themselves in the cricketing world.
The IPL has seen its fair share of problems throughout the years, including claims of match-fixing and corruption. Nonetheless, the league has taken efforts to address these concerns, including the implementation of stringent mechanisms to promote fair play and transparency.

IPL 2023 Wide Ball Evaluation
With the Decision Review System, players can appeal the umpire’s wide and no-ball calls (DRS). The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 became the first tournament to introduce and apply the new rule. The regulation will be implemented in IPL matches from March 31, 2023, onwards.
IPL 2023 Impact Player Rule
This new rule is added by BCCI, which allows every team to replace a player from their on-field players with any of the substitute players of their team. And also this rule includes that the player who will be replaced cannot participate as a player in the team, not even as a substitute player of the team.
IPL 2023 Venues
As the BCCI has changed the format of the league stage matches to home and away matches, each team has a home venue, which means each team will play a total of 14 league-stage matches, which will include 7 home and 7 away matches.
